Starting at age 30 -- we begin to lose muscle even if we don't gain weight. By the time we turn 70, our muscle percentage decreases from 80 percent or more to 50 percent or less.

For most of us, growing older is almost always accompanied by weight gain in the form of fat.

More fat and less muscle leads to these problems:
  • less metabolic activity and an increased risk of diabetes.
  • weakness that affects gait and balance leading to falls.
  • increased tension on joints causing osteoarthritis.
We all know that exercise is the key to a longer and a better life, but exercises to build muscle are particularly important. we can do this by exercising with weights. no matter your age this leads to:
an increase in strength by 50% or more.
  • improved gait and balance reducing fall risk
  • improved metabolism
  • stronger bones and less osteoporosis
  • decreased risk of depression
  • longer life expectancy
