Update (10:00 p.m.):
The fire is now 100-percent contained and all homeowners have been allowed to return home.

The Red Cross evacuation shelter has closed.

Update (6:10 p.m.):
KARK 4 Reporter Brittney Johnson on the scene reports the fire is 50-to-60-percent contained.

She says the fire is believed to have been sparked by a farmer who was baling hay around noon.

The homes that have been evacuated are along Amity Road. Those who've been evacuated are waiting it out at a Bismarck school, where the Red Cross is assisting them.

There has been one minor injury reported.

Update (5:00 p.m.):
Robin Halbert with the Hot Spring County Office of Emergency Management tells KARK 4 News at 5 via phone that the fire is still not under control and has burned about 200 areas since it started around three o'clock.

Halbert says in addition to the evacuated homes, others in the area have been put on notice for possible additional evacuations.

He says there is no immediate threat to homes.

The blaze started in Clark County and burned over the county line into Hot Spring County.

At five o'clock, it had burned 150 acres within the last hour, Halbert said.

Original Story (3:45 p.m.)
Dozens of people have been evacuated in Hot Spring County as a wildfire burns this afternoon.

Firefighters are battling the flames in the Point Cedar area along Highway 84 west of Amity.

Fifty to 75 people have been evacuated from 75 to 100 homes in the area, according to the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

The fire broke out around three o'clock and had burned about 75 acres within an hour. At last report it had burned 150 acres.

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management tells KARK 4 News that the fire is touching off smaller fires in the area as firefighters work to get it under control.

KARK 4 News has a crew on the way to the fire scene and we'll update this story as more details come into the newsroom.
