Friday's announcement was welcomed news to avid outdoorsmen like Norman Antoun.
"I'm pretty stoked," Antoun said. "I'm pumped up about it, ready for them to open it up so we can get in there."
The store was originally proposed for a lush land area in North Little Rock, but after encountering years of obstacles, the mega-store will now be put near interstate-30 and interstate-430.
Representatives for the development company in charge of the sale said they can't imagine a better spot.
"It'll be easy to get here," said Tony Hodges with Otter Creek Land Company. "Good place to stop if you're coming through and it's just going to be a win/win for everybody."
"All we really have is Gander Mountain," said Chris Anuszek. "And academy to get our lures and stuff from. So it'll give us way better selection."
Anuszek said he fishes five to six days a week and doesn't mind the extra traffic the store is expected to bring to the area.
"Traffic's already bad," Anuszek said. "Just got to deal with it, it's life."
"There's going to be some improvements in the traffic situation," said Hodges. "So we'll get that fixed up."
Also Friday's announcement is not just good for anglers, the store will bring jobs to central Arkansas.
Bass Pro Shop anticipates hiring around 250 people.
