Shocking News for the Mother of Arkansas Murder Victim

By: KARK 4 News

The news came as a shock to Judy Ingram, finding out her daughter's accused killer was finally behind bars.

"It was shocking, you know, it takes a little bit to let it sink in."

Judy Ingram's only daughter Nina was strangled in her Fayetteville apartment, April of 2006.

"I wasn't going to give up. It just paid off."

Now, more than six years later, her accused killer Rico Cohn is in the Washington County Jail.

"Nothing is happening for six years and then, you know, all of a sudden it's happened...It's very shocking to a mother, it's shocking, it's wonderful, it's absolutely wonderful."

But with the arrest, comes the reminder of Judy's tragedy.

"You start remembering things from six years ago and everything kind of comes back...Those old wounds kind of get stirred up."

But she never gave up hope for justice.

"So happy, you know, I just, I can't describe that this answer finally is here...It is an answer to prayer and I'm just so thankful."

Judy knows she was not in this fight alone.

"All the public that has just poured themselves on Nina's behalf, all of Northwest Arkansas, the media, the friends, the family...All these people that did so much and continue to do so much. I couldn't ask for any better, it's just support like you wouldn't believe."

So as one chapter comes to a close, the next chapter begins.

"It's wonderful news, but it's shocking. It just takes time to process, that's all. God answered this prayer this way that Nina's going to get justice and, you know, that we can get some closure and resolve in this matter. It's wonderful."

Judy said she does not know who Rico Cohn is and has never seen him nor heard of him.

While it is tough re-living the tragic death of Nina, Judy is looking forward to getting some justice for her daughter.
