Dr. Suzanne Yee is a respected cosmetic surgeon who specializes in making people look younger and these days that doesn't necessarily mean a face lift.
"Everybody is into trying to look younger but with less down time... so there's tons of new technology that's come out."
There are now peels... fillers... creams... and injections available to anyone who'd like to shave a few years off their appearance. I'm going to try botox... probably the most popular of all the non-surgical procedures done in this office.
"Botox is botulinum toxin... it's a toxin that helps decrease muscle movement."
I'm happy with my face... and the character lines that come with aging... but why shouldn't I literally take a shot at looking younger and maybe sexier.
"We're going to do a little between your eyebrows here and a little in your forehead to soften those lines and we'll do a little bit here on the sides so that it will give you a little lift of the brow."
A toxin is usually something you keep out of your body... but in just the right dose botox dramatically takes away wrinkles. And if I'm not happy with the way I look the results will disappear in just a few months.
"There are instances where patients have the botox and they've gotten it so much that they build antibodies against it."
The body breaks down the toxins so long term use doesn't appear to be a problem.
"You'll start noticing a little bit of relaxation of the muscles in about 4 or 5 days. You'll get a peak of your botox at about two weeks."
I don't think I'll do this again... but I have to admit the differences before and after are pretty dramatic.
