Saturday, McCain Mall hosted the annual magnet school fair Saturday.

McCain Mall hosted the annual magnet school fair Saturday.

Sixteen magnet schools set up shop to attract students in 'theme' areas like health or the arts.

Magnet schools offer the basic classes set out by the state, but add extra curriculum for enhanced learning.

"It's one stop shopping if there are several elementary  middle or high schools they're considering for enrollment they can talk to the principals , teachers, parents students right here and schedule visits to the schools later on." said Donna Creer, director of the Magnet Review Committee.

Early enrollment for magnet schools runs from January 28 through February 8.
