A thief in the Hillcrest neighborhood in Little Rock drove off with a man's car after it was found running in the the street near his home.

Zach Ellis says he's always warmed up the engine on his '97 Taurus before leaving the house.

But around 10:00 Tuesday night when he started it up, went back inside his house, then walked out his front door, he saw his Taurus driving away.

Ellis says he knows he learned the hard way.

"Just don't think it's not going to happen to you, because that's what I thought, and that's exactly what happened," he says.

Little Rock Police say it happens several times every year, and that cold temperatures are no excuse to leave your car running.
