We've all heard about recycling paper, plastics and aluminum cans, but what about crayons?

Texarkana's Fairview Elementary School is doing just that.

A Fairview science lab teacher signed her class up for the Arkansas Green Challenge, and her students have collected about 25 pounds of crayons since October.

While it is a competition, this teacher sees it more as a learning tool and hopes her students will understand what impact they're having on their planet.

If you have crayons you would like to recycle, the students are having another collection in February.
