John L. Smith is officially out as as Head Coach for the Hogs -- some say it's been a long time coming, and it's really no surprise.

The speculation and anticipation is building as we wait for the announcement that names a new Head Coach for the Razorbacks.

But for now, with John L. Smith's exit, there seems to be a general consensus.

Fans said, "He's never been a winner anywhere," and, "I think I could have led them to about the same record for about half the money they paid him."

It's come as no surprise that John L.'s exit has fans looking forward.

When asked who should be hired, fans said, "We need somebody that's gonna play defense," and, "One that's dedicated. We didn't get that from this coach. He was just there."

But who? Who's going to bring the Hogs back to where so many saw them when, they say, Bobby Petrino held the title.

"To me, I thought PEtrino should have just been suspended instead of fired," one fan said.

Another said, "There's no telling where we'd be now if he was still coaching."

With that out of the question, Hogs around Little Rock have their own ideas on who should take over.

"The TCU coach. That's who we NEED to get."

Another says, "I've heard Gary Patterson or John Gruden. Hopefully either one of them. I'll be happy with that."

And yet another thinks TCU's coach as well, saying, "They could pay him more."

But regardless of who takes the reigns this holiday season, the general consensus seems to be, it's only up from here.

As one fan put it, "Can't do any worse."

It doesn't seem like we'll have to wait for too much longer. Some reports say the next Head Hog will be picked out within 10 days.
