Store officials ask drivers to slow down while in parking lots, and look out for pedestrians and other vehicles.
When it comes to protecting your purchases, don't leave bags in plain view in your car and don't purchase more than you can easily carry at once.
Police also advise shoppers to have their keys in hand when heading to the car, giving a robber less opportunity to take advantage of customers leaving the stores.
