2013 will be the first year the city will have 12 full months of additional revenue after a sales tax increase passed in 2011.
Now, the mayor says, he thinks 2013 looks really good.
The proposed budget for 2013 is $171 million.
That's three million more than what we used for this year.
Now a good chunk of that money is going to a 15% increase in city employee's healthcare cost from what the mayor calls just a few catastrophic claims they've had to pay for.
Money, too, is being allocated for additional police firefighters and code enforcement officers, as well as improvements to city streets, and transportation..
"It's really now a good opportunity for us to deliver on the promises we've made to our citizens so that extra revenue has been instrumental for us to deliver the services people want and expect," said Mayor Mark Stodola.
The Mayor will be proposing this budget Tuesday night board members may voice concerns or questions.
The city has to vote on a final budget sometime before January. We'll let you know what's decided.
