The Arkansas Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the identity of the man whose body was found by a Sheriff's Deputy on Aug. 6 outside a residence on CR 804 while conducting a welfare check.
The victim is identified as 68-year-old Herbert Leon Murphy, who lived at the residence.
The Medical Examiner's Office indicated Murphy died of natural causes.
Original Story (Aug. 6)
A man was found dead Monday morning by Sheriff's Deputies conducting a welfare check in Gamaliel.
The Sheriff's office was asked to check the residence because an older man reported to be living there had not been seen or heard from recently.
A deputy arrived at 9:09 a.m. and walked around the house after no one answered the door. He then discovered the body of a man who was apparently dead for some period of time lying face down in the grass.
An identification could not be made immediately, and the name of the deceased will not be released until his identity is verified and confirmed by the Arkansas Medical Examiner, who will also determine the cause of death.
