Updated: May 16, 2012

The De Queen High School's boys varsity soccer team is expected to be dozens of players short for its upcoming championship game.

That game is scheduled in Fayetteville on the same night as graduation.

Players say the decision to choose between the two wasn't easy, "sad" even, but minds are made up, at least for now.

Out of the sixteen seniors on the varsity team, all but one have decided to forego the game, and formally accept their diploma.

The varsity soccer coach says it's not only De Queen finding themselves inconvenienced by the friday game.

Their opponent, Clarksville High School, also has graduation scheduled for the same night.
