Arkansas Parolee Arrested for Battery after Girlfriend Found Beaten

An Arkansas parolee is back behind bars after being arrested on a battery charge in the alleged beating of his girlfriend.

The Baxter County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says Pete Allen Terwilleger, 41, of Midway, is being held on $25,000 bond.

Deputies say they were called to 6494 Highway 5 North in Midway just before 11:30 last night and found a woman who was bloodied and had other serious injuries. She was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center. Her condition is unknown.

The BCSO says the woman told deputies that Terwilleger, her boyfriend, had assaulted her inside the home.

Terwilleger, who was out on parole from the Arkansas Department of Correction, was not found until four hours later when deputies returned to the home and caught him trying to get away out a back door, the BCSO said.

Deputies had first gone to the home after hearing from a caller who was concerned about the woman's welfare.

The BCSO says a Gassville police officer assisting deputies was bitten by Terwilleger's dog during the incident.
