Gabrielle Giffords Being Honored with Award in DC
The former Arizona Representative resigned from her House seat earlier this year to continue her recovery from a gunshot wound to the head.
Giffords will receive the "We Are Emily" award in Washington, DC from "Emily's List", a group dedicated to electing pro-choice democratic women to political office.
Organizers will also announce the creation of a new award, named in Giffords' honor, focusing on women at the beginning of their political careers.
John Edwards Trial Begins
The criminal trial of former presidential candidate John Edwards is underway in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Edwards faced the jury of nine men and seven women for the first time yesterday.
The case will determine if he misused nearly one million dollars in campaign finance money.
The star prosecution witness is former close Edwards aide Andrew Young, who managed the coverup of Edwards' extramarital affair, even claimed to be the father of Rielle Hunter's daughter.
Legal experts expect the trial to last six weeks.
