  • Flagship Stations, Affiliates Announced for Red Wolves ...
    Reported by: KARK 4 Sports

    Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @04:00pm CST

Arkansas State Athletics and East Arkansas Broadcasters teamed up Monday to announce the flagship stations and affiliates for men’s and women’s basketball broadcasts this season.

For the first time, 107.9 KFIN will serve as the flagship station of Red Wolves men’s basketball games. The 100,000-watt station will be joined by seven other Arkansas State Radio Network affiliates around the state to cover each game, beginning with Thursday night’s exhibition opener against Henderson State.

Meanwhile, KWHF 95.9 “The Wolf,” which had previously been the home of both men’s and women’s broadcasts, will the year serve as the exclusive home of Red Wolves women’s basketball, beginning with Tuesday night’s exhibition game at the Convocation Center versus Christian Brothers.

“We are thrilled to have our men’s and women’s basketball broadcasts on two of the strongest radio signals in Northeast Arkansas and very excited that Bobby Caldwell and East Arkansas Broadcasters has chosen KFIN as the flagship station for men’s basketball,” ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee said. “To have a 100,000-watt signal anchoring our network helps us blanket the Eastern half of the state, and to couple that with a station like ‘The Wolf’ designated for all our women’s games really puts us at an advantage over many of the schools in our conference.”

The complete list of Arkansas State Radio Network affiliates for men’s basketball includes: KFIN 107.9 FM (Jonesboro), KTLO 1240 AM (Mountain Home), KWYN 1400 AM (Wynne), KRLW 1320 AM (Walnut Ridge/Pocahontas), KRLW 106.3 FM (Walnut Ridge/Pocahontas), KWAK 105.5 FM (Stuttgart), KQEW 102.3 FM (Fordyce) and KOOU 104.7 FM (Hardy).

In addition, the audio broadcast of each men’s and women’s basketball game, both home and away, can be accessed on the “State Zone” portion of Arkansas State’s official athletics web site, www.AStateRedWolves.com.

Each men’s and women’s broadcast will begin 30 minutes prior to tipoff with a pregame show and will also include a 30-minute postgame. For the fifth season, Matt Stolz will handle play-by-play duties for men’s basketball while Brad Bobo will enter his seventh season calling women’s games.
