Reported by: Newsroom Solutions Wednesday, Nov 25, 2009 @08:45am CST A nine-year-old Virginia girl is being credited with finding a dinosaur bone believed to be more than 100-million-years-old while digging around in Laurel's Dinosaur Park last weekend.
Gabrielle Block discovered the piece of tail bone that probably came from a small, meat-eating dinosaur that used to roam the area. It's less than an inch long, and will be sent to the Smithsonian for further examination. Scientists may have trouble determining exactly what kind of dinosaur it came from because the bone fragment is so small. But it's also possible that they could end up matching it with teeth and other fossils found at the site. |
