A tropical storm warning remains in effect from Grand Isle, Louisiana to Aucilla River, Florida this morning after Tropical Storm Ida made its first U.S. landfall.
The storm came ashore earlier this morning on Alabama's Dauphin Island.
Alabama Governor Bob Riley had already declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm's arrival. Ida is forecast to strike Mobile later on today before making a turn towards the east.
The storm, blamed for the deaths of 124 people in El Salvador, is packing winds around 50 miles per hour. -
