next week, citizens in Assistant Chief of Police Officer Joey
Cannon was shot and killed while on-duty just about four months ago. Today, there was a special
dedication to his memory. The parade through the streets of But today's celebration had a special
meaning, with members of Officer Joey Cannon's family leading the pack. In June Officer Cannon was shot and
killed during a routine traffic stop. Shane Lonix has been charged with capital
murder. Unveiled today, there’s a special
memorial in Officer Cannon's honor in front of the police department and
another for local veterans. It’s something Officer Cannon's son, Josh says his
dad would have liked. "He thinks of Veterans as
heroes also, he wouldn’t consider himself a hero by any means. But of course he
is one,” said Josh Cannon, son of Joey Cannon. Officer Cannon is definitely a major
inspiration not only to his son, but for many people in that community. There was also a moment of silence
