Reported by: KARK 4 News Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @01:00am CST The names of 801 Arkansans are on the Internal Revenue Service's annual "undelivered refunds" list. Click here to see the list of names.
These are federal income tax refund checks that have been mailed out, but returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable. Almost all are from year 2008 tax return filings. "People in 69 of Arkansas' 75 counties are due a check. For these more than 800 Arkansans, quickly notifying the IRS of a current address could result in extra cash in time for the holidays," says IRS spokesman David Stell. To receive their undelivered checks, people on the list need only contact the IRS with a current mailing address. This can be accomplished most easily online via the IRS Website (click here). This year's total number of undelivered checks is smaller than last year's as last year's undelivereds included Economic Stimulus Payment checks in addition to undelivered "regular" federal income tax refund checks. Although the total number of undelivered refund checks may seem large, that number represents less than one-third of one percent (0.29-percent) of the 37.3 million federal income tax refund checks the IRS has issued so far this year. |
