There is a $12,000, 80-facet diamond ring somewhere in the streets of downtown Hot Springs.

It will become the target of a high-tech treasure hunt in the downtown area as the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau partners with Lauray’s The Diamond Center for the first-ever Diamond Dash in the Spa City on Saturday, November 14.

“The city will be turned into a city-wide game board as couples work to find this gorgeous ring,” said Mark Fleischner, owner of Lauray’s. “It’ll be a great way to make young people aware of Hot Springs’ growing reputation as a great place to hold a wedding.”

“Garvan Gardens, our downtown attractions, the lakes, restaurants, hotels and other attractions provide great locations for any type of wedding big or small,” said Steve Arrison, CEO of the Convention Bureau. “Everything a couple could want for a wonderful wedding is right here in Hot Springs.”

“This event will be a great way for Hot Springs to get its message out to the younger demographic groups that often are hard for us to reach with traditional media,” he said.

“Serving young lovers searching for engagement rings for three generations, Laurays has been the place where some of the happiest moments in life have taken shape,” Fleischner said. “Happy moments have been a little short of late. We’re going to change that. On the day of the dash, everyone will be a winner and one lucky couple will have their dreams come true.”

To participate in the game, couples must submit their love stories to Lauray’s (click here). The best stories will be selected by the staff at Lauray’s and the couples will be offered a spot to participate in the city-wide game on Saturday, November 14. Signups are open until Thursday, November 12.

This Diamond Dash is a fully interactive high-tech game where all of the clues and challenges are delivered to couples’ mobile phones via text message.

On November 14 at 11:30 a.m. 250 couples will meet at Wheeler Plaza in front of the Hot Springs Convention Center to take part in the Dash. Once the game kicks off, the teams will be sent sprinting around Hot Springs solving the clues and riddles delivered to their cell phones. The game will culminate when one lucky couple finds the secret location of the 80-facet diamond ring.

Fleischner said the entire staff is looking forward to reading the wonderful stories coming in from Arkansas couples. He continued, “It’s stories like the ones we will be receiving that make this whole event worthwhile. The best part of being in the jeweler business has always been the smiles we get to see. And what better way to make Arkansas smile than to hide a giant diamond ring in the city!”
