Reported by: KARK 4 News Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 @03:10pm CDT Arkansas' Third District congressman is speaking out against a new health care bill introduced on Capitol Hill today.
U.S. Representative John Boozman issued the following statement after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled the latest plan, crafted with input from a select number of Congressional members, behind closed doors. “This new plan unveiled by Speaker Pelosi and leaders of the majority follows weeks of meeting behind closed doors. After the concern Americans have voiced in the past three months on the health care proposal there has been little change to the legislation introduced in July. I am committed to reforming our health care system through common sense solutions that contain costs, but this bill will add to our national debt, hurt seniors and falls on the backs of small businesses and hardworking American families. We can fix what is broken in our health care system while keeping what works, without introducing a massive government takeover. I will continue to fight on behalf of responsible health care solutions American people support.” When presenting the bill, Pelosi said the U.S. is finally on the verge of meaningful, affordable health insurance reform. She said it will lower the soaring federal deficit while providing coverage to 96-percent of Americans. |
