  • Accused Robber Steals Lingerie, Gets Bitten by Police D...

    Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 @08:30am CDT

Little Rock police say a man who tried to rob Cupids got more than just lingerie. They say he also got bitten by a police dog.

Officers responded Monday morning to a shoplifting turned robbery at Cupids. They say the suspect took items from the store, broke the glass out of the front door of the business and ran away.

A short time later, officers found Anthony Wright hiding in some bushes in the 1100 block of Southedge. A K-9 Unit helped take Wright into custody. Officers' located lingerie that had been stolen from Cupid's on the ground by Wright. He was transported to UAMS for treatment of a dog bite.

Detectives say an employee of Cupid's who told them he saw Wright hide the lingerie under his clothes. The employee locked the door and confronted Wright. That's when police say Wright pulled out one item from his shirt and threw it at the employee. The employee said Wright threatened him and told him he better unlock the door or he would have to do something and kick the door open. Police say Wright tried to kick the glass out of the front door, and when that didn't workl, he picked up a metal clothing rack and threw it through the front door, breaking the glass and causing damage to the door frame.

Wright is charged with Robbery and Felony Criminal Mischief and is in the Pulaski County Regional Jail.
