Reported by: Newsroom Solutions Thursday, Oct 22, 2009 @12:00pm CDT Mortgage rates have ticked up for the second straight week.
Home funding company Freddie Mac says the rate for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage averaged five-percent for the week that ended October 22nd. The five-percent rate is a benchmark for many real estate analysts, who expect home loan demand to increase when the rate is under five-percent. Demand historically declines when the rate tops five-percent. The Mortgage Bankers Association says home loan demand dipped for the second straight week last week. The interest rate is still more than a point lower than it was at this time last year. |
