Reported by: Newsroom Solutions Friday, Oct 16, 2009 @07:30am CDT Although flu vaccines are recommended for most people, some are being told to avoid them.
Dr. Tony Fiore of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says infants are among those who aren't supposed to get vaccinated for the flu in general. Fiore says that means adults who are around infants under six months of age should be vaccinated to avoid giving the illness to babies. Fiore mentioned those with severe egg allergies also need to talk to a physician before getting the vaccine. Some people who have had a rare neurological disease are also on Fiore's list of people who will want to discuss the vaccine with their doctors before it's administered. Otherwise, Fiore said people should be ready to be vaccinated when the medicine is available. He said there's lots of flu activity around the nation already. |
