Reported by: Newsroom Solutions, KARK 4 News Friday, Sep 18, 2009 @08:15am CDT Jews around the world begin the celebration of the Rosh Hashanah New Year holiday today at sundown.
It's a two-day celebration which is part of a ten-day period of introspection in the Jewish religion. Traditionally, on the Jewish New Year, the Book of Life is opened for Jews to look reflect on the past year and on Yom Kippur the sins of the past year are cleansed and the Book of Life is closed for another year. The holiday period concludes with the solemn observance of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, which begins Sunday September 27th.
