Another setback for a Sherwood Police Officer trying to get her job back.

Detective Beverly Hughes was fired from the department July 24.  The department maintains she was terminated for insubordination.  She says she was sexually harassed and discriminated against while fighting breast cancer.

Hughes' hearing with the Civil Service Commission was scheduled to resume Thursday afternoon.  However, one commissioner, Rex Kyle, called about an hour before it was supposed to start to say he couldn't make it.  Four of the five commissioners were present when the hearing began Wednesday and without Kyle it would have left only three to hear the rest of the testimony.

Hughes' attorney Robert Newcomb says this was "hard" for them because Hughes is not receiving any income. 

Sherwood city attorney Steve Cobb says the commission wants to get this rescheduled as quickly as possible to resolve the situation.

No date has been set yet and scheduling could prove tricky, with the different attorneys, litigants and city officials who need to be present.
