Reported by: KARK 4 News Wednesday, Aug 26, 2009 @07:45am CDT A reward is now being offered in the investigation of a cat beating death by Bryant Animal Control.
The Arkansas chapter of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The cat was found near a school on Tuesday. Bryant Animal Control says the black domestic shorthair female, adult cat was found in a parking lot at the corner of Rogers Drive and Reynolds Road, where it's believed the attack took place and the animal was left to die. Evidence at the scene indicated that the beating may have happened this morning or in the overnight hours. The cat is believed to have belonged to someone because a red reflective collar was found nearby. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Bryant Animal Control at (501) 653-0765. The agency says callers may remain anonymous. Under the Arkansas animal cruelty law, which was passed by the Arkansas State Legislature earlier this year, this act of animal cruelty is a now a felony offense. |
