Reported by: KARK 4 News Tuesday, Aug 11, 2009 @03:25pm CDT The newest figures for home sales in Arkansas register a double-digit drop. The June report shows a decline of 14.07-percent when compared to June 2008.
Statewide 11,125 homes were sold by June 2009, compared to 12,946 by June 2008. In the state's top five markets, only Pulaski County saw an increase. The jump amounted to 7.69-percent. On the flip side, Benton County saw the biggest decline at 3.87-percent, followed closely by Washington County's 3.26-percent. Among the state's other top markets, Saline County figures were down 2.46-percent, and Faulkner County held steady with no gain or loss for the period. Clay County in northeast Arkansas reported the biggest year-to-date decline with 57.14-percent fewer home sales. On the bright side, five other counties had progress to report, including: Arkansas, Columbia, Hot Spring, Madison, and Perry.
