  • Home Sales Dropping across Arkansas
    Reported by: KARK 4 News

    Thursday, Jul 9, 2009 @10:30am CDT

One Arkansas county is standing out from the rest when it comes to home sales.

While the newest figures for home sales in Arkansas show a drop of more than 16-percent for the month of May over the same time a year ago, it's a different story in Perry County.

The home sales picture is brightest there, where figures registered a 200-percent jump.

The exact figure for statewide home sales in May registered a decline of 16.32-percent*.

By May 2009, the number of homes sold across the state so far this year totaled 8,760 homes, compared to 10,468 by May 2008.

In the state's top five markets, only Benton County saw an increase, although it was a small one of 0.62-percent.

On the flip side, Sebastian County saw the biggest decline at 12.90-percent, followed closely by Pulaski County's 12.67-percent.

Among the state's other three top markets, Washington County had no gain or loss for the period, and Saline County figures were down 7.91-percent.

Along with Washington County, Clark and Greene County's figures also stayed the same with no increase or decrease.

Besides Perry County, 10 others also saw improvement, including: Baxter, Crawford, Crittenden, Grant, Hot Spring, Lonoke, Marion, Miller, Ouachita, and Polk.
