Anyone planning summer travel by air should buy that ticket right now.

That's the advise of travel experts who, after watching ticket prices tumble for months, are suddenly noting increases.

"The Wall Street Journal" quotes Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare.com as saying "I think for the consumer, it's as good as we're going to get right now." Seaney says "some prices are 50-to-100 dollars higher now than they were just a few days ago."

Microsoft's Bing Travel agrees saying the average ticket price for markets tracked now sits at 281-dollars, up from 259-dollars three weeks ago.

On Memorial Day, a round-trip fare between New York and Honolulu could be found for as little as 353-dollars. On Wednesday the lowest price was 758-dollars.

The reason for the increase is a combination of rising oil prices, continuing cuts in capacity by carriers and an apparent revival of leisure-travel.

Daniel Garton, executive vice president of marketing at American Airlines says there are changes afoot. He says earlier this year, consumers were rewarded for waiting to buy tickets until very close to travel time. He says "that's going to change now."
