Reported by: RNS Newsroom Solutions Friday, Jun 19, 2009 @08:25am CDT The Census numbers for 2010 may include households with couples involved in same-sex marriages, unions and partnerships.
The Obama administration says it is looking for ways to include that new information in the upcoming headcount. As a result, a memo has gone out to the Census Bureau asking it to determine exactly what would be needed, whether it's new forms or new software, to allow that marriage data to be released early in 2011. President Obama has issued an order that will expand certain insurance and other benefits to same-sex partners of government workers. |
