Reported by: Betsey Martin, KARK 4-News Sunday, Apr 12, 2009 @01:34pm CDT A
gloomy morning didn't stop people from attending a Easter tradition down by the
river. Because
faith matters, winds whipped along the river and brought a chill to those
attending the annual Easter Sunrise service at the Riverfest Amphitheatre. Many
attended the traditional, nondenominational service but the crowds were less
than in previous years. Much
of the pastoral service centered on rebirth and second chances. "They
too found the tomb was empty. The nameless disciple believed that Jesus had
risen...Simon and Peter reserved comment," Rev. Vic Nixon said. Each
year, the interfaith service brings together high school and college choirs,
scripture readers and remarks from community leaders. |
