  • Church to Hold Easter Services at Bar
Reported by: Betsey Martin, KARK 4-News

    Thursday, Apr 9, 2009 @11:45am CDT

A new church in Little Rock is breaking down barriers...and some say unspoken rules for church this Sunday.

Because faith matters, The River Church in Little Rock will hold its first Sunday service in a bar.

The Rev room, a popular bar in the River Market, will shift gears Sunday and become a place of worship.

Pastor Shane Montgomery says the new church wants to remove obstacles between people and God.

"This idea of doing church in a bar is pretty exciting to us. And we're not real sure what to expect. We know long term we may not be in a bar every Sunday in a year from now, but at least it's a place to start. And if it reaches people that would never walk into a door of a church, we're glad they're coming," Pastor Montgomery said.

Right now the church has about 30 members, but they're expecting a big crowd Sunday.  Their first service will be Good Friday at another downtown location.
