Reported by: KARK 4 News Wednesday, Nov 11, 2009 @03:45pm CST Curtis Vance, 29, of Marianna has been found guilty on all counts in his trial for the death of Little Rock TV anchor Anne Pressly.
The trial began on November 4 at the Pulaski County Courthouse. At sentencing, he faces life in prison or the death penalty. A chronology of the case: October 19, 2008 - Pressly spends the evening with friends, co-workers and family before returning home late in the evening. Police say she last used her laptop computer around midnight. October 20, 2008 - Pressly is found by her mother at 4:30 a.m. and rushed to St. Vincent's. Police will later reveal that her credit card was used at a Little Rock gas station between 2:45 and 3:00 that morning. Pressly's mother will testify at Vance's trial that blood was on the walls and ceiling of her daughter's bedroom. She said, "It was horrific. I simply could not take the scene in. I could not imagine what I was seeing." October 25, 2008 - Pressly dies at St. Vincent's, having never regained consciousness. The state medical examiner later testifies at Vance's trial that intense swelling of the brain from blunt force trauma to the head was Pressly's cause of death. He says most of the bones in her face were broken, and her hand was broken in five places. In police interview tapes played in court, Vance tells officers Pressly fought back. October 30, 2008 - Hundreds gather at a memorial service at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Little Rock for Pressly. November 14, 2008 - A benefit is held in Little Rock to raise money for a scholarship fund in Pressly's name. November 26, 2008 - Little Rock Police announce Curtis Lavelle Vance, of Marianna as a suspect in Pressly's beating death. He is arrested in Little Rock less than an hour later. November 28, 2008 - Vance is ordered held without bond at the Pulaski County Jail. December 1, 2008 - Little Rock Police release an arrest affidavit that reveals DNA evidence found at the Pressly crime scene matches DNA from the Marianna case of a school teacher who was raped in her home. Marianna Police also reveal Vance was a suspect in a string of early morning burglaries. Pressly's parents appear on NBC's TODAY show and reveal she had been sexually assaulted. November 4, 2009 - Jury selection begins in Vance trial. November 6, 2009 - A jury is seated and testimony begins. November 11, 2009 - The day begins with closing arguments. The jury gets the case at 12:45. Shortly after 3:00, they return a verdict of GUILTY on all counts (capital murder, residential burglary, rape, theft of property). |
