  • Arkansas Lottery Timeline 
    1990 - A lottery proposal was presented in the State Legislature but failed to make it out of a committee.
    1996 - Voters rejected a lottery proposal that included casino gambling.
    2000 - Voters again rejected a lottery proposal that included casino gambling.
    2006 - A lottery proposal failed to gain approval for the ballot.
    2007 - Lt. Gov. Bill Halter proposes state lottery for 2008 ballot.
    2008 - Halter leads charge that gets lottery amendment on the ballot and approval by voters.
    2009 - Lottery Commission says tickets could go on sale by October 29.
