LAP-BAND®
Patients will be seen at 2-3 weeks post-op
and at 6 weeks post-op, 8 weeks, and 10 weeks. The first "fill" will be in the
office at the six week visit. We do not "fill" before then because this has been
associated with an increased noted slippages and erosions). "Fills" thereafter
occur at 6-12 week intervals or more often as determined by the patients weight
loss and ability to tolerate large volumes of solids (or loss of satiety). This
is extremely variable particularly at the beginning. Yearly follow-up is
recommended even for patients who have reached their weight loss
goals.
ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS
Following the Roux-en-Y
procedure, patients are routinely seen at three weeks, three months, six months,
and one year post-op. We recommend yearly follow-up appointments after the first
post-op year. If any problems are encountered, more frequent visits may be
necessary.
Lab work will be checked at six months and yearly
thereafter. Yearly labs are extremely important in preventing late metabolic
complications of the Roux-en-Y procedure.
