Reported by: Cecillea Pond-Mayo, KARK 4 News Wednesday, Apr 29, 2009 @06:31pm CDT The Dewitt School Board voted Tuesday night to close Humphrey Elementary and Gillett 6th through 12th grade. The district had annexed the schools previously.
The Dewitt Superintendent said the decision was based on declining enrollment. There are 65 students and Humphrey Elementary and close to 90 in Gillett middle and high school. Many parents in Gillett have expressed their disappointment. They say the school has an excellent student to teacher ratio and higher than average test scores. |
