Reported by: Jancey Sheats Wednesday, Jun 18, 2008 @09:39pm CDT If you've ever tried to grow a goatee, you know keeping it neat and even can often be a struggle.
A Little Rock man says he's come up with the perfect solution. We decided to put the Goatee Saver to the test. When it comes to innovative hair care, move over Flowbee, now there's something new on the cutting edge of technology. "I have always worn a goatee and I have always struggled with getting it even on the left and the right side," says Goatee Saver Creator Scott Bonge. "One night when I was watching the big idea with Donny Deutch, I had my ahaa moment." Arkansan Bonge began brainstorming about two years ago. After numerous prototypes – "The first one we did, my wife literally took the plaster and laid it over my face." "Then we went to clay and then we started pouring plastic." And several engineers... "A couple of engineers told me no, you can't do this." Scott eventually created what's known as the Goatee Saver. "Basically, you put it in your mouth and shave around it. So, it gives you a template for shaving your goatee." "It's perfect every time." And because chins don't come in one size, the template is adjustable. His inspiration – a chin we probably all recognize. "I said, what if Jay Leno wants to use this?" The gadget did catch the eye of the late night talk show host at a recent trade show in Pennsylvania. This Friday, Scott will join Jay on stage in LA to pitch his product to America. But the question now is - will the famous chin be sporting a little extra fuzz? "That is a good question. You'll have to stay tuned Friday night for the answer. I wish I knew." Scott was awarded a bronze medal in the personal care category at the recent Inpex trade show in Pittsburgh. You can catch him and his invention this Friday night on Jay Leno - right here on KARK. To find out more information on the Goatee Saver – go to www.goateesaver.com |
