Reported by: RNS Saturday, Jan 3, 2009 @01:28pm CST Illinois Governor Blagojevich has been stripped of his access to classified federal security information following charges that he was trying to sell a Senate seat. According to Homeland Security Spokeswoman Amy Kudwa, anyone who is the subject of a criminal complaint is disqualified from access. The "Chicago Sun-Times" reports that access to security information is given to every governor. Executive Director of the Better Government Association Jay Stewart says without clearance, the governor is, quote, "flying in the dark when it comes to security." Meanwhile, the The "Daily Herald" reports that legislators were called into session beginning Wednesday and will meet for several days for a possible impeachment vote. |
