  • New Information: West Memphis Three Case
Reported by: Chelsea Folts, KARK 4 News

    Friday, Feb 29, 2008 @12:01pm CST

A judge in Jonesboro has ordered all parties involved to take part in a hearing in April.

The court date is tentatively set for April 14th, and would involve looking into evidence in the appeal of Damien Echols.

Echols is one of three suspects serving prison terms for the 1993 murders of Stevie Branch, Christopher Byers and Michael Moore.

Judge David Burnett has now ordered all sides to appear at a hearing scheduled on April 14th in Jonesboro.

At that hearing, the court will consider new scientific evidence in the case for all three defendants... Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelly, and Jason Baldwin.

Also, the court will consider a motion that two defendants previously had ineffective counsel—that includes Misskelly and Baldwin.

However... Prosecuting attorney Brent Davis say all sides have petitioned the court to delay any hearing that would involve testimony on evidence.

Davis says nobody is ready yet for a hearing on the evidence, and any substantial testimony could be delayed until next fall.
