  • New DNA Evidence for the West Memphis Three
Reported by: Lindsey Bryant, KARK 4 News

    Monday, Oct 29, 2007 @06:42pm CDT

New DNA test results may push the West Memphis Three to a new trial. Filed Monday in federal court on behalf of Damion Echols, a list of DNA evidence and statements his attorneys argue not only show cause for a new trial but prove the innocence of their client. They charge DNA test results do not link Echols or the other defendants to the deaths of Stevie Branch, Michael Moore and Christopher Byers. And it says, DNA test results showing a hair found in material used to tie up one of the victims, matches Terry Hobbs, the step-father of one of the victims. DNA test results showing foreign DNA - from someone other than Echols or the other two men who were convicted. According to Echols attorneys "at the time of the trial, there was no scientific evidence to support the prosecution's case.”
