  • Jancey Sheats
Jancey Sheats co-anchors the weekday 5:00 and 6:00 news on KARK 4. She first became interested in TV reporting when Hurricane Alicia blew into her hometown of Baytown, Texas in 1983 and brought a score of reporters into the area. Absorbing this media event planted the seed as to her future goals. With her inquisitive nature and desire for knowledge, the exciting and fast-paced field of journalism seemed like a perfect fit.

Despite growing up in a family full of Aggies, Jancey graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. During her college sojourn, she had the good fortune to work as a production assistant for the Rosie O’Donnell Show and interned at several local Austin, Texas news affiliates including KEYE, KXAN and KLBJ.

She also reported and anchored for local cable station, KUT, while in school. After college, Jancey found her way to Sherman, Texas where she worked as a producer/reporter/anchor for KXII-TV, the CBS affiliate. Her work there attracted the attention of KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas where she was hired to anchor their morning show. Eventually, she took over the role of five o’clock weekday anchor. While in Beaumont, Jancey was chosen as “Best News Anchor” in the market by the Port Arthur News and won numerous state and local awards for her news reporting.

Jancey joined the KARK team in January of 2005 as co-anchor of the 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00 newscasts. In December 2008, she went part-time and no longer co-anchors the 10:00 newscast. Jancey has had the opportunity to cover numerous big stories while in the natural state including spending a week with our local Marines at Camp Pendleton, sitting down for one-on-one in depth interviews with our gubernatorial candidates, and following the hogs to Atlanta as they competed for an SEC Championship.

Jancey was also recently voted as one of the top anchors in Little Rock by “The Arkansas Times " Best of the Best.”

But it’s not all work and no play. One of Jancey’s major interests in life is traveling. She has traveled the United States extensively and has visited six continents. (She is still trying to make her way to Antarctica.) When not traveling, she can be found on the nearest golf course working on her game. She is an avid reader and trivia buff, but also loves the outdoors. Jancey is currently a member of the Junior League of Little Rock, is on the Fine Arts Center Board, and serves on the Women’s Advisory Board for Baptist Hospital.
