| Friday, Mar 25, 2005 @02:16pm CST Governor Mike Huckabee underwent a procedure today to repair a spigelian hernia in the abdominal wall just below the waistline. The procedure was performed on an outpatient basis at the
surgical pavilion of the Hickingbotham Outpatient Center at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. The surgery was performed by Dr. Everett Tucker Jr. The governor`s condition apparently wasn`t due to a particular activity. Doctors said it developed over time. Huckabee had experienced discomfort during training for this month`s Little Rock Marathon, which he completed. When symptoms worsened, he was examined by his personal care physician, Dr. Torin Gray, and then referred to Tucker for surgery. The procedure was scheduled for about one hour under general anesthetics. Huckabee will rest during the weekend and have only limited activities the next several weeks. There are no events on the governor`s public calendar next week. |
