    Winter Weather

With this latest round of winter weather, how do you feel about the snow we've been getting?
I don't like it at all.
It's nice, but I'm ready for Spring.
I love it! Bring on more snow!

  • Local Military Base Reacts to Fort Hood Shootings
Reported by: Lauren Trager, KARK 4 News

    Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @09:23pm CST

Of course, central Arkansas is home to two of our own military bases: Little Rock Air Force Base and Camp Robinson where members of the Arkansas National Guard are stationed.

Officials from both bases declined to talk about any specific security procedures or policies. They say their silence in itself a safeguard.

At Camp Robinson today, a spokesperson says they did not heighten any of their security measures but say after today's shooting they were monitoring safety on their base very carefully.

There are no units of the Arkansas National Guard currently deployed to Fort Hood though many Arkansas soldiers, including the 39th Infantry Brigade have mobilized from that base in past.

Still, Arkansas' service members say they are grieving for those lives lost today.

"Anybody who wears this uniform and goes overseas and deploys knows that there's a risk and the families know that and we know we have a sacrifice when you put this uniform on. But to have it on a US base on American soil its devastating, just devastating,” said Capt. Chris Heathscott with the Arkansas National Guard.

Heathscott says they do have an anti-terrorism unit that is constantly attempting to monitor all threats but he says you can't stop everything from happening.
