Reported by: Josh Teddleton, KARK 4 News Sunday, Jun 21, 2009 @02:37pm CDT Federal stimulus money could help greener bus options become a reality in Arkansas. Central Arkansas Transit board members are expected to vote on whether to use the five-million-dollars they're receiving in stimulus funds to bring compressed Natural Gas buses to the state. Despite being better for the economy the buses would cost 50-thousand-dollars more than regular buses and require special fueling stations be added to infrastructure costs. The board will vote in July on the proposed changes, but even if the buses are approved they wouldn't be on roadway for 18 months. |
