Heroin

Heroin is a morphine-type substance that gives the user sensations of euphoria. Heroin is also a sedative, which will slow breathing down and can even stop breathing. If you add in even more sedatives to it, the ending result can be death. Young girls are additionally at risk for date rape, S.T.D's and pregnancy due to the fact that they are not cognizant of their surroundings and circumstances when high.

Different ways heroin is abused:
Heroin can be abused in several ways. It can be smoked, inhaled (snorted), or injected. Teens normally begin by smoking or inhaling
heroin to avoid the social stigma that comes with injection drug use. Teens often make the common mistake that smoking or
snorting heroin will not lead them down the road to addiction. At times many teens who smoke or snort heroin turn to injection because as their bodies become acclimated to the drug, the effects of heroin become less intense. 

Abusing heroin can cause damage such as:
*overdosing
*slow, shallow breathing
*convulsions
*contracting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
*contracting hepatitis B and C, and other blood-borne viruses
*scarred or collapsed veins
*infection of the heart lining and valves
*abscesses
*pneumonia
*tuberculosis
*liver and kidney disease
*coma and even death
