  • Garden Spells Review
    Garden Spells
    by Sarah Addison Allen
    Fiction/Available in Paperback

Being a visual person I first noticed this because of the lovely cover and became fascinated when I read the synopsis. The book did not disappoint. I tore though it in about a day. I loved the idea of  the magical garden and the meanings of the flowers brought into cooking. Some of the plot was not all together original but the garden and the apple tree that predicts the most important moment in a person's life refreshed the story of two sisters one wild and on the run for her life and the other sensible and a homebody.  Of course there is romance for each and a happy ending but you do get involved with the main characters and some rather magical secondary characters including the sisters' aunt who has to give people things that they will need in the future. I, also, felt that the author captured the south. It was like reading home, warm, charming, and the smell of something enticing coming from the kitchen.
