Reported by: KARK 4 News Tuesday, Oct 6, 2009 @03:10pm CDT Arkansans have a chance to see and be seen when an ice skating tour slides into North Little Rock next month.
One of the biggest names in the world of ice skating headlines the Holiday Celebration on Ice November 19th at Verizon Arena. Brian Boitano and friends will be heralding a holiday of rock and roll in a show complete with the sounds of silver bells, blades gliding across the ice and the wail of electric guitars. Legendary rock bands REO Speedwagon and Rick Springfield will perform live as a star-studded cast of Olympic, World and National figure skating champions showcase the wonders of the holiday season. This event is the actual production of the NBC Special, Holiday Celebration on Ice that will air on Sunday, November 29 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. People attending this show will be watching the production of the TV special and will be able to see how a TV special is produced and directed. For example, at the end of the event, technicians will take the stage and do retakes of any slips or falls that may have happened during the performance. For instance, a skater will jump again and again until the skater gets it right. The show lasts approximately 2 hours with a 15–20 minute intermission. The retakes at the end could take up to 30 minutes but that just depends on what happens during the show. Audience members will experience “the making of” Holiday Celebration on Ice and then enjoy the TV show on Sunday, November 29 on NBC and possibly see themselves in the audience since the cameras will pan the crowd during the event.
