Reported by: KARK 4 News Tuesday, Oct 6, 2009 @01:15pm CDT With the Arkansas State Fair opening on Friday (October 9), the Little Rock Police Department wants to remind fair-goers about crime prevention.
The nine-day event features musical entertainment, a rodeo, livestock show, the foods and rides of the Midway, and much more. Parking: Officers recommend that you leave home early and plan your route to the fairgrounds beforehand. Once there, you will find a number of areas to park inside and outside the fairgrounds. Outside parking is available near the front gate, north of Roosevelt Road and east of the front gate. There are also large parking lots inside the grounds accessible by taking Schiller Street south from Roosevelt Road. Once you have parked, make sure all valuables are out of sight and your car is locked. If possible, stay in a group, especially if you are parking in areas other than official fairgrounds lots. Getting Help: The Little Rock Police will have uniformed officers patrolling outside the fairgrounds to assist wherever possible. The Little Rock Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police will provide security inside the fairgrounds. The police command post will be located inside the front gate. If you attend the fair with small children, take the time to show them the police command post and instruct them to find a uniformed police officer or go to the command post if they get separated from you. As soon as you notice your child missing, go to the command post and advise the officers of the missing child. In addition, medical personnel from MEMS will be available throughout the fairgrounds. Safety First: The Little Rock Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies work closely together to provide a safe environment in the area of the fairgrounds. Incidents of a serious nature have been minimal in the past, however, individuals must use good judgment and common sense. While at the fair, if you see potential problems, be sure to contact a police officer. Anyone found to be causing problems at the fair may be asked to leave by police, or may be subject to other enforcement action as the situation warrants. The Arkansas State Fair wraps up on October 18th. Click here to visit the State Fair website for information on entertainment, food, rides, and more. |
